This Mother’s Day, I’d like to introduce you to jam cake. Of German origin and rarely seen outside of Kentucky and Tennessee, it’s spiced (I use cardamom and nutmeg in place of the traditional allspice and cloves), has blackberry jam and nuts mixed into the batter, and is topped with caramel. It is my favorite kind of cake—one that’s best served in the morning or afternoon with a cup of strong tea or coffee. Savory greens pie, roasted strawberry ice cream, and the most over the top pint of butter pecan are also on the menu. Delivery is $20 and will be Saturday, May 11th, from 11am-2PM.
